This four-bedroom Victorian house in the leafy St Andrews area of the city is one of my favourites. I love the palette of delicously moody greys, which look fantastic against the tall sash windows and period cornicing. Throughout, salvaged furniture is interspersed with designer pieces, and built-in shelving is painted the same colour as the walls to show off the owners’ collection of vintage finds (antlers, bell jars, old bottles) to maximum effect. There’s a beautiful blend of textures, too – feathered JuJu hats above ornate fireplaces, silvery cowhides atop polished floorboards, mottled wooden chairs by sleek metro tiles; even the lighting is a funky combination of industrial pendants and chandeliers dripping with beads and shells!
Every room looks stunning, but for me the dining room is the most eye-catching. I’m particularly envious of the chrome and leather chairs by Charlotte Perriand, which look fantastic against the rough wood of the table.
