It’s nearly the end of the week, and I can’t wait to get home and indulge in my favourite evening ritual: running a bath, lighting a few candles, and settling back with a good book and a glass of wine. And, as I’m heading off for a break in Stockholm tomorrow, I’m planning to get in the mood by sampling some of the pampering products from Swedish body- and home-care range L:A Bruket.
This is the kind of brand I love – natural, mostly organic and based on a strong sense of place – and I knew I wanted to write about it as soon as I discovered it on one of my favourite homeware websites, Bristol-based Between Dog and Wolf. It was founded by Monica Kylén, who lives in Varberg on the west coast of Sweden, and the various lotions and potions are inspired by sea breezes, surf and salty air – just the ticket for a pre-holiday soak. Many of the ingredients are gathered from the land and water on Monica’s doorstep, and they’re blended into wonderful concoctions designed to soothe skin and hair battered by the elements and the grind of daily life. The products even look great on the bathroom shelf thanks to the gorgeous, clean-lined packaging; you might have spotted them popping up in some of the beautifully styled rooms floating around on Pinterest at the moment.
I particularly love the sound of the Kattegat sea-salt bath, made from salt that’s harvested, cleaned and poured by hand, and the lemongrass shampoo and conditioner (said to be ideal for easy-to-tangle hair like mine). I also have my eye on the calming rosemary and lavender hand and body wash, and the lemongrass and rosemary washing-up liquid, which is packed with aromatic essential oils. Anything to make doing the dishes less of a chore…
If you want to see the full selection of L:A Bruket goodies then head over to Between Dog and Wolf. And do watch this space for some more travel inspiration from my continuing summer of Scandinavian adventures!
